I'm with you on this one... The latest I know of is 4.5, but I only found out about that a month or 2 ago and never looked beyond it.... there's a post earlier on where someone linked to it though...

I've never heard of a version of QBasic higher than v7.1 It's hard to find but you can download a version of it at eagleperch.net/index.htmlThis site also offers v1.1 This version is also available on all Windows CDs (at least up to and including Windows 2000) Varsion 4.5 can be downloaded from jsoft.zabia.net/QB45.php or geocities.yahoo.com.br/silasrpg/programacao/The person who writes the EaglePerch site actually wrote to MS who seem to say that it's ok to use these download sites as they no longer support it. Well, about the project being really big, I certainly wouldn't undertake it alone, but it's been done [with a team of experienced programmers] quite a few times. I haven't used them m'self, I like the 7.whatever-it-was. Maybe someone should make something like XBasic (I think it is) with it's built-in GUI creator...but that would be a huge project. Is your IDE going to be a GUI (like XBasic's) or text-mostly (like the regular QB IDE) [Elias]?

Oops...you said it would have a GUI, and I can't edit my post...so, er, I guess my next question would be, what kind of GUI? A windows-style?

ACTUALLY I AM THINKING ON A GUI THAT CAN BE USED AS A DOS-BASED-MULTITASK-PROGRAM, OF COURSE IT WILL NEED CODING BESIDES FOR QBASIC. IT WILL CONTAIN A COMPILER AND THERE WILL BE EASY TO MAKE APPLICATIONS FOR THAT GUI, IS IT A BIG PROJECT OR WHAT? PLEASE HELP ME, I AM PLANNING FOR IT TO HAVE SVGA SUPPORT AND EMS SUPORT (ACTUALLY IT ALREADY HAS, BUT NEEDS SPEED) THE LENGUAJE WILL BE COMPILED TO A LENGUAGE FASTER THAN QBASIC, SO, IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE APPLICATIONS FOR... PROJECT-Q (AS I WILL CALL IT FOR NOW) AND WITH SOME LUCK IT WILL BECOME A POPULAR MULTI-TASK PROGRAM. NOW, I KNOW I CAN'T DO IT MY SELF, AND I NEED HELP, TWO HEADS THINK BEST THAN ONE, SO, I AM ASKING FOR ANY HELP. I HAVE THE COPYRIGHT OF THE WORK SO FAR, SOI AM NOT AFRAID OF INVITING YOU TO JOINT THE TEAM. ELIAS.
