I need some very basic help. My 14 year son needs to learn some QBASIC programming and I am not sure how to run QBASIC on my Windows ME computer. The last time I programmed in QBASIC it was on a DOS computer. Also will one of the compilers on this site work in this situation? Thanks

Hi. Microsoft stop including QBASIC with OS after WIN95. You have to download it from some whare on Internet.

If you haven't already found the files, you can download them from my page at members.lycos.co.uk/brisray/qbasic/qdload.htmThey need no special installation instructions. You can choose from v1.1, 4.5 or 7.1 v1.1 is just two files, the program itself and the help file. It's a good version but can't produce standalone exe files. This is the version I used to write the programs on the site. v4.5 and v7.1 are slightly more complex in that they can use libraries. I think most people use the v4.5 version. Ray

Hi, I'm a new member,(March 2007), who also would like to get a Qbasic compiler for my Microsoft Window XP machine, that would allow me to do some programming on DOS. Would I now be able to get this from your page, or can you advise some other source ? TomB
