Whenever we like to spread the joy and sorrows of our daily lives, we (or at least some of us) like to create new threads in the General Board. This is fine and well, but sometimes the title isn't as descriptive as it could be, or for other reasons makes no sense to be in the GB.
So, I propose we create a new category for this site titled "daily events". Inside this category can be things like "relationships", "online stuff", "band stuff", "hardware stuff", "software stuff", "no life" etc. This would be a place where we could post the events of our daily lives in a slightly more organized way. This way, if no one wanted to hear me write a 50 page essay on why I'm not allowed to leave the keyboard, they could skip over that section (it'd be in either "online stuff" or "no life", and not feel the pains of wondering "well, if it was in the GB, maybe something could've been written that might help me).
Of course, for this to work, we'd have to all follow it. If you accidentally post in the wrong spot, make another post in the same thread and mention that you'd like the thread moved. Somewhere an admin will come along...
If you have any more ideas or suggestions (ie can think of more categories we could make), that'd be appreciated.

Ya know, that's a pretty sweet idea. I like it much.

Oh, I do like tater tots.
And would all the threads already in the GB be moved to their respective categories? That'd be neato.

That might be slightly work extensive for Earl, and Ildurest. But it would be nice.
Personally, I think this as un-needed since we have under ten, active, members. For me it's easier to see all the posts together at one time.

Well, I could do all the work if Ildurest doesn't want to. I do have the powers of "Advanced Moderation", which enables me to move posts between boards and categories.
As far as not haveing too many active members, you have to realize that we might want to organize ourselves anyway. Sometimes the biggest drawback to a site is that it's unorganized. If this is true for our forum, organizing it would be helpful (of course, so would telling more people about it, but that's unethical as you'd have to e-mail all these people, which would be spam).
Still, you've a point, as I too enjoy seeing things in one place at times. For the most part, however, I do enjoy the organization. Why must you present such a good argument against it?

I'm against it mainly because I know that I'd rarely go to the trouble of reading them. If anything, I think just one extra "daily events" board would be fine, for whatever kind of social commentary or self-promotion you wish to engage in. I'd keep things like debates and help-seeking questions in the general board.
Another problem is that when there are too many boards, some are stagnant, and people won't post in the stagnant ones for fear (rightfully) that hardly anyone will read their posts anyway. I think any more than 3 boards will see this effect strongly.
I'll do whatever the concensus wants, but if you do decide to make heaps of board, for every different kind of post you can think of, then I probably won't participate much.

True, in fact, I concur. Too many boards is indeed a bit much. I wonder what the Canada I was thinking, creating 10-odd boards just to give things categories.
