Get QB 4.5 or 7.1 so you can compile to EXE (make sure you select STAND-ALONE) Should be under RUN->Make EXE or something similar >>> 4.33.40.118/qbasic/qdload.htm

In Qbasic (though I prefer QuickBasic) you can make a program run (alone).
Consider the following. hello.bas ====== print "Hello" SYSTEM
save it in the directory containing Qbasic
then from the command prompt or from a bat file issue the statement
Qbasic /RUN Hello

Do a bunch of searches for QuickBasic 4.1 on Google and Yahoo. Be determined.... and you'll find a full copy of QuickBasic floating around out there which you can download to than make Executables....
That's what I've done....
Unfortunately...these are the steps one must resort to when Microsoft decides the world no longer needs a program that is truely one of the best learner programming languages out there.

I'd suggest 4.5 instead. It's the most popular and you may have trouble finding 4.1
Never heard anyone talk about 4.1 other than maybe a history of the versions (maybe).
I have 4.0 and 4.5 here (I don't give them out so don't ask).

Get QB 7.1
It is by far the best.
Look for it on...
