I don't think I've ever mentioned it here, but I'm a lacto-ovo-vegetarian. Not for animal rights reasons, I'm just kind of disgusted by the thought of eating flesh.

Except fish, because fish makes me sick.

You don't have an option for non-vegans. [joke] I should sue you for infringing on my rights to eat meat! [/joke] rofl. I've never really given it much thought, but considering that its tasty and all, I'll go with that.
Seriously, though, one does suppose that even if the entire world went vegetarian, what would we do with the dying animals? They cannot all naturally decompose or be eaten by carnivores. Further, humans do have an omniverous digestive system for a reason. Protein is more filling and provides a lot of energy and builds muscle.
Of course, so can be said of the pro-vegetarian side. Consuming the products of animals means that they were killed so that we may eat them. Humans wouldn't like it if aliens came down on us, killed us, then ate us. So, why should we subject our animals to the same processes? Finally, to eat something that once was sentient (at least on some level) means that we're eating something that could have the same feelings as we do (ie emotions, etc) and feels pain (that's a definate yes there. No matter how "humane", even a bullet is felt (speed of electricity > speed of bullet), even if only for a nanosecond).

well being a farmer most of my life.. and being a welder in heavy industry meat is a staple, vegies are good and all but for me to do good hard physical labour all day (9-15 hours a day), the only thing that can give me the energy for that day, is high protean(Meat), and vegies to clean the grease out after.LOL
but ya i could eat 5 lbs. of salad and not have the energy as i would easting 1 lbs. of meat!
plus meat tastes SO much better. and dairy well, on the farm i had 8L a day, now farm life far away hence no free milk im down to 4L every week, im a milk monster.
nothing against vegans, infact cudos on the habbit. living with a low cal and low protean diet. but for me, im for the power punch of meats.

Hey, I think meat tastes great. Yes, I'll admit it. I don't care if you beat an animal with a lead pipe, but I don't want to eat something. As previously stated, I'm not a vegetarian because of "animal rights" stuff.
The whole, eating flesh thing. That gets to me for some reason. Think about it - Isn't eating jerky just like gnawing on a sunburned cow? But with more pepper...
I love Boca meatless products. They taste just like meat. It's awesome. A tip to n00b vegetarians - Don't buy "Morning Star" brand stuff. My first quote after taking a bite was, "Hmm. Tastes like I'm going to die..."

I eat meat, but not large amounts. My father's more-or-less vegetarian, though he eats fish and on occasion meat. Apparently this is because he doesn't like the taste.
The problem with meat is that it takes so much more land per unit of food. But I'm goint to avoid a ramble and -

Well, believe it or not, when most people ask me why, I say
"I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. It's because I can't stand plants!"
Great minds think alike...
