No disrespect to you but I nearly fell off my chair for laughing so hard when I read this question. Back in the old days of DOS when programmers were real men and would tell you the the entire ASCII code table at parties, out shopping, or anywhere else ... All a batch file is, is a series of DOS commands in text form and given a .bat extension. You can write them in any plain text editor - Dosedit, notepad etc. etc. As their name implies they are DOS batch processing files. DOS is programmed to recognise the BAT extension and will run the file as a program, executing the DOS commands inside it, one at a time. You may not have a full set of the DOS external commands for your computer and although Microsoft won't like this you can copy some of these from other computers, commands such as CHOICE are useful. www.computerhope.com/batch.htm shows how to construct batch files.
