I have written an audio morse program in qbasic and running it on a computer using Windows ME. When I exit the program I would like the program to close and leave me with the Windows desktop - however when I exit it leaves me with the DOS screen and the lines of qbasic code - which I then have to close down. What do I need to put into my program so that when I exit the program completely closes and reverts back to the windows desktop.
Many thanks

You either have to put STOP or SYSTEM instead of end, but I forget which one.

It is not a matter of QB or DOS, its a matter of the .pif file (ShortCut to MS-DOS program) to solve this problem, open the Windows Explorer and find the QB.EXE that you are using, right clic the filename or icon and select Properties, find a tag that Has the Checkbox called "Close on exit" (it might be hidden in advanced options depending on the windows version you have) and be sure it is checked, apply the changes and open the program again. Here i am supposing you are running the bas, if you have same problem with the compiled program do the same procedure with the exe you are using. you have to do this with every DOS executable you run, unless you configure windows to make pif files as you wish. but i think that will help for now.
