I am unable to get QBASIC to run on my Windows 2000 O/S. I can launch QBASIC, enter in a program and save a program but I am unable to run (F5) the program. QBASIC freezes up and I have to exit the program. Can anyone provide any tips/tricks to get QBASIC to run on Windows 2000?

Well, there could be a lot of factors. Are you using a graphical screen mode? (e.g. SCREEN 12)
Or maybe you're trying a program from somewhere that uses assembly (CALL ABSOLUTE/ INTERRUPT)
QBasic works perfectly fine on my Windows 2000, I can't see what the problem is.
Maybe if it's windowed, press Alt-Enter to make it fullscreen before you run?
Give me any more information you can. Good luck!

qbasic.pif.exe?
You probably mean qbasic.pif
qbasic.pif.exe will not be a PIF file.

Yes, a PIF may help Windows know where QB is. If you downloaded a version that had a PIF just delete it and make a new shortcut. You can also use a command line or batch file if you need the library in QuickBasic.
/ L can be added to a shortcut after QB.EXE also.

Clippy, this was a thread from 2005, and that the new post didn't have anything sensible in it.
It's probably some silly bot or some such - please ignore such posts; I will delete them.
