How do I print hard copy of a graphics screen?

At its simplest - Simply press the Prt Scr button on your keyboard. This will place a copy of the screen in memory. Open your favourite graphics program and in the edit menu you should find a choice such as "Paste as new image". failing that, open up a new blank image from the file menu and paste into that. Some programs like Paint just say Paste, when you do this and automatically opens a new image for you. You can then print from your graphics program.
This method should work if the program is running full screen or in a window. I use Windows 2000 and when I try to run graphic screens in a window whatever action is on the screen stops.
Prt Scr takes a snapshot of the entire screen. If you want to take one of just the active window then press Prt Scr while keeping Alt pressed down.
Prt Scr works for Qbasic in both graphics and text modes. In text modes the snapshot is still saved as an image. I can't think of a method of getting text from a DOS graphics screen into a text editor apart from using OCR software.
Some programs write directly to the video buffer of the PC using low level programming techniques. Unfortunately, these always give weird results when using Prt Scr. Even most screen capture programs (well, those I've tried anyway) can't create useful images from these programs.
