How can I convert a .bas file to a .exe file? (Step by step would be appreciated, but not necessary)

Hi Tracy. Computers don't really understand programming languages. They understand something called machine code. That is what you will find in EXEs. One such exe is called QB.EXE, and it contains instructions for reading and carrying out a BASIC program. This process is called interpreting and QB.EXE is acting as an interpreter. To create an EXE from a BASIC program, you need to a program called a compiler. Compilers compile programs into machine code form. Now, QuickBasic 4.5 includes both an interpreter and a compiler (and other features you don't need to know about). QBasic 1.1 was a derivative version, that had most of the features of QuickBasic 4.5 except the compiler, and was included with MS-DOS for free. (If you wanted to make EXEs you had to purchase QuickBasic 4.5). Later QuickBasic 7.1 came out, and it had some more features (particularly for database and financial uses) and was a little faster than QuickBasic 4.5. (It could also make EXEs.) That's all ancient history. You're still supposed to buy QuickBasic 4.5 and 7.1, but Microsoft doesn't sell them anymore, nor does it seem to care that people download them from the internet. You may obtain all three versions from here: www.brisray.com/qbasic/qdload.htmTo make an EXE, simply load the program, and select "Make EXE File" from the "Run" menu. You probably want to select "Stand-Alone EXE". I hope this has been informative
