QB 7.1 and QB 4.5 are very similar however QB 7.1 has more database functions and a few other goodies. The advantages aren't great and QB 4.5 is far more popular; if you want to be sure most people can run your code get that. If you don't care then QB 7.1 is fine. QB 1.1 does not have a compiler (cannot make EXE files) however is, unlike the others, legal.

yes, it was one of my obsessed nicknames.
i was using that name when i began to see the qbasic.com forum;
few weeks before Mac became administrator of that forum.
